RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Aligned with our mission to provide Accessible, Accountable, and Transparent Private Security Services and our vision to champion human rights and gender equality, we conduct comprehensive research every two years. This research aims to assess and reflect the current situation in Private Security Companies (PSCs) in Tanzania, ensuring that our practices and policies remain relevant and effective. Additionally, we use our findings to develop informed recommendations for lobbying and advocacy to improve the industry. Our thematic areas of research include:
Demographic and Household
Information:
Collecting and analyzing data on the demographics and household characteristics
of those employed in the private security industry. This helps us understand
the socio-economic backgrounds of our workforce and their families.
National Context of PSI in
Tanzania:
Examining the broader national landscape of the private security industry,
including its growth, challenges, and opportunities within Tanzania. This
contextual understanding informs our strategic planning and operational
improvements.
Legal and Regulatory Frameworks: Evaluating the existing legal
and regulatory frameworks governing the private security industry in Tanzania.
This ensures our adherence to all relevant laws and promotes advocacy for
necessary legislative improvements.
Human Rights Issues in PSI in
Tanzania:
Investigating human rights concerns within the private security industry,
including any reported abuses or violations. Our goal is to foster a culture of
respect for human rights within all PSCs and PSI in general.
Gender Issues in PSI in Tanzania: Assessing gender-related issues
within the private security industry, such as gender equality in hiring,
promotion, and workplace treatment. We aim to identify and address any
disparities to promote a more inclusive and equitable industry.
Through
these research activities, we are committed to continuously improving our
services and ensuring that our mission of accessibility, accountability, and
transparency is upheld. Our findings guide us in making informed decisions and
implementing best practices that align with our dedication to human rights and
gender equality.
